HIMALAYAN CYCLE TRAVERSE
17 days trip – 10 days challenging mountain biking - 7 nights
hotels
Cycling the world's highest and most rugged mountain roads from Leh
to Manali
It would be hard to beat this exhilarating cycle ride across the backbone
of the West Himalayas. An expedition that follows the rugged mountain
road linking Buddhist forts and monasteries of the Indus Valley! We
acclimatize as we cycle to some of the outlying Buddhist monasteries
and forts that reflect Ladakh's rich cultural history. There is also
an opportunity of cycling to the Kardung La (5548 meters) - across the
world's highest motorable pass.
From the Indus Valley we gradually ascend to the Taglung La (5300 meters)
as we traverse the first of the stark ridges that form the Zanskar Range.
Crossing the vast yak grazing plains we head south towards the snow
capped peaks of the Himalayas.
After cycling through the Buddhist villages and settlements of Lahaul
we ascend to the heights of the Pir Panjal Range. As the road zigzags
towards the Rhotang Pass (3978 meters), we gain views of a panorama
of peaks before freewheeling down to the pine forests and Hindu villages
of the Kullu Valley.
