Introduction
Nepal, the land of Himalayas, is best suited for the adventure
activities. The change in altitudes and structure of terrain at very short
distance, being its characteristics, it has been a destination for adventure
sports activities.Mountain biking started in Nepal in late 1980s. It started
as commercial mountain bike tour in Nepal but nowadays many people ride
their mountain bike for fun and exercise too.To promote adventure sports
in Nepal, various sports competitions have been organized in the past.
In all of these events, the number of local as well as international participants
seemed quite encouraging. In order to attract the interest groups/individuals
from local, regional and international level towards adventure sports,
the Nepal Mountain Bike Tours P. Ltd. (NMB) has proposed to organize Nepal
Mountain Bike Race 2008 on 4th October. The race will be launched in a
newly developed mountain biking route: Goldhunga - Mudkhu Bhanjyang -
Cho Gaun -Dharmasthali – Gattekhola - Chimur gaun – Jhor –
Sapan tirtha – Tokha - BudhanilKantha. The proposed route includes
beautiful landscape with local village style settings and a panoramic
view of Kathmandu Valley. We firmly believe that such programs will provide
good promotional benefits to Nepal in the long run and eventually contribute
to promote adventure sports in Nepal.
Objectives
‘To promote and develop Nepal as an adventure sports playground’
Rationale
The sports activities have contributed greatly in promoting Nepal
and attracting foreigners towards Nepal. The mountain biking races organized
so far have been instrumental in promoting mountain biking activities
